Munster Rugby and adidas are teaming up to encourage supporters of all ages to rethink their match-day journeys. By encouraging supporters to walk the one mile from Limerick City Centre to Thomond Park, Munster Rugby and adidas are raising awareness of the club’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Instead of the typical solo car ride, Munster supporters are urged to carpool, walk, cycle, or use public transport.
Munster Rugby’s aim is to halve its overall emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2040 or as soon. The Munster March is just one way the club is encouraging supporters to help by using more sustainable forms of transport when travelling to Munster matches.
March Day Matches
The first Munster March will begin at the Richard Harris statue on Bedford Row in Limerick City Centre at 3.20pm on Saturday, 9th December 2023. There will be two other Marches on the following home game dates:
- 26th December 2023 – Munster vs Leinster, Thomond Park, Limerick
- 20th January 2024 – Munster vs Northampton, Thomond Park, Limerick
The Red Mile
The Munster March follows the iconic Red Mile from Limerick City Centre over Sarsfield Bridge, down Clancy’s Strand, or from Nicholas Street over Thomond Bridge. Supporters can gather at the Richard Harris statue on Bedford Row or kick off their day with a visit to the International Rugby Experience before heading down to the match at Thomond Park.
Track Your Steps and Turn Them into Prizes
The Ciclogreen app will be the hub for tracking all your sustainable travel. It allows you to track and submit your journey to and from Thomond Park to swap steps or eco-travelled kilometres for points. The more sustainable the option, the more points you earn, and these points give you the chance to unlock exclusive prizes.
In partnership with adidas and Munster Rugby, you can redeem your Ciclogreen points to win some big Munster prizes.
Prizes That Score Big
By redeeming your points, you could win exclusive behind-the-scenes access to a training session at the High Performance Centre in Limerick, stand tickets for Munster Rugby vs. Crusaders at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, and much more Munster Ruggy prizes. And that’s not all — the top-scoring supporter wracking up the most points will win tickets for the ’23/24 Season.
Getting There Sustainably
If you need to drive, park-and-ride facilities allow you to join the March to Thomond Park from a designated zone. Small steps together can mean huge strides forward.
Let’s March Together for Munster
It’s time to go beyond the cheers and roars from the stands. Munster Rugby and adidas invite you to join forces, take action, and play your part. Let’s march with Munster, not just on the field, but towards a greener tomorrow.
