New Year, New Goals.
It may be that you’ve decided to take up running for the first time or maybe you’re a seasoned pro, either way you will have set yourself some targets in order to reach THAT end goal.
We’re guessing some of them goals might be to “Get fitter” or to “Get faster”. What if we added an extra goal? What if we said that goal was to “Avoid injury?” Nike have been looking for ways to help runners achieve this and in 2019 after some intense and extensive research…they launched the Nike React Infinity Run. In 2021, we finally get our hands on the second instalment…the Nike React Infinity Run FlyKnit 2. “The one thing that hurts worse than injury itself, is not running” – Insight Injury is the #1 google search for runners.
So What’s Special About the Nike React Infinity Run2?
There are three key features that help bolster Nike’s injury-prevention claim. The Flyknit upper, the extra cushioning and that wider base with durable traction all work together to deliver an improved run on the original.
Nike React technology is a lightweight, durable foam that delivers a smooth, responsive ride. The high foam heights provide soft responsiveness and long-lasting comfort. It’s still one of Nike’s most tested shoes, designed to help you feel the potential when your foot hits the pavement.
Shaped like a rocker, the foam provides support for the 3 phases of a runner’s stride. It offers flexibility when your foot rises off the ground, a smooth ride when your foot is moving forward and cushioning at ground contact. Less material between the insole and midsole means you’re closer to the foam. This helps create a more responsive experience. The foam itself has a higher height, providing a plush feel.
FLYKNIT UPPER & DURABLE RUBBER TRACTION
A refreshed upper uses Flywire technology that combines with Flyknit for support and lightweight breathability where you need it. The Flywire technology offers extra support and stability through the midfoot. Increased rubber at the outsole helps deliver traction and durability. Cushioned collar provides soft comfort. A wide shape provides a more stable ride, helping release energy with every step.
The Science: Nike React Infinity Run 2 – Tested For Miles
Testing shows that the Nike React Infinity Run 2 reduces injuries at a similar rate as the Nike React Infinity Run, which, in a separate study, was shown to reduce injuries by 52% compared to the Nike Air Zoom Structure 22, our traditional motion control shoe. In an external study of 226 men and women during a 12-week variable training program conducted in 2019, the Nike React Infinity Run reduced running injuries by 52% compared to the Nike Air Zoom Structure 22 (injury = missing 3 or more consecutive runs due to running related pain). Participants reported on progress and injuries via online questionnaires. Our study found that 30.3% of Nike Air Zoom Structure 22 runners experienced an injury but only 14.5% of Nike React Infinity Run runners experienced an injury. In a second study conducted in 2020 using the same protocol, Nike React Infinity Run 2 showed no statistically significant difference in the incidence of injuries over the previous year’s Nike React Infinity Run model.
The Nike React Infinity 2 is a shoe that leaves no runner behind, from newbie to pro…this shoe has got you covered.
