2017 is the year of the black boots. It has just begun and we already have title contenders for the best boots of the year
Adidas kick the year off in incredible style with the off pitch Chequered Black pack. The Ace, X and Copa get dipped in black. As always with the brand, the Messi collection doesn’t get the blackout treatment.
The Ace and X both feature a subtle chequered design throughout the boots. Along with the black base this gives a nice sheer and shine to the dark colouring’s.
All three of the collections have the famous adidas brandings in white. The Copa collection which takes its inspiration from the Copa Mundial, makes a move away from the inline colourways to bring Copa to its roots with a black white finish.
The 17+Purecontrol takes a step onward from the Red Limit Ace 17+. The Chequered Black version is now the same boot worn by the likes of Pogba and Ozil on pitch. The noticeable difference is the collar on the 17+ of the Chequered Black compared to the Red Limit.
The X collection remains the same since its update in May in the Mercury Pack. “If it aint broke don’t fix it” and the X most certainly isn’t broke. The X collection is magnificent in black as we have seen from the “Dark Space” adaption in August. The low profile of the boot at the toe box, up to the techfit collar make the boot a sleek silhouette which is ever more pronounced dipped in black.
