Looking for a shoe that performs with race day speed for everyday training? The adidas adizero Boston 10 has got your back.
The story of the adidas Boston began in 1981. Advertised as the latest training shoe from the brand the Boston was announced as “one of the most comfortable we’ve ever designed”. In 1984 the updated adidas Boston Super, with a mesh upper and suede overlays, was debuted at the 88th edition of the Boston Marathon.
The next release wasn’t until 2010. The shoe retained the original silhouette, but new technology allowed for a lighter and more responsive edition. Year on year tweaks were made to each iteration of the Boston. However, one thing always remained the same, the adizero Boston was a low stack racing flat designed for speed workouts and racing day success. Fast-forward to 2021 and the Boston 10 has been reinvented with some radical changes.
The most exciting update in the Boston 10 can be found in the midsole. No longer is this shoe the racing flat it used to be, with a 39.5mm stack height in the heel and 31mm in the forefoot, the shoe takes a leap into the high stack racing shoe market.
Utilising the latest midsole technologies there is a full length layer of lightstrike pro, adidas’s lightest and most responsive foam to date, directly under the foot and a firmer Lightstrike foam sitting below. Sitting between these two layers are five carefully placed glass fibre energyrods designed to move with the foot in natural motion. This provides more forefoot stiffness and a snappier toe off. There’s also a plate in the heel to stabilise landing and assist with hell to toe transition. It’s the combination of all these features that reduce fatigue in the ankles and calves and allow for back-to-back training sessions and higher performance on race day. It is worth noting that the combination of lightstrike pro and lightstrike in the midsole create a more stable ride than most shoes in this category, particularly around corners.
With a single mesh upper with suede overlays paying homage to the early models, the upper stylish and breathable, and there’s a snug internal sock that helps lock the foot in place.
And as you may have come to expect from adidas performance footwear the outsole is made from Continental rubber to provide great grip and traction regardless of the conditions outside.
The Boston 10 is full of exciting new technology that makes running feel easier than ever and is certainly one to consider adding to your collection this season.
